In carrying out its activities, the trade union maintains organizational and financial autonomy, independence from government agencies, employers and their associations, political parties, and other public associations and organizations. It is not accountable to them or subject to their control. The union builds relationships with them on the basis of equal partnership, dialogue, and cooperation in the interests of its members.

The Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers is a founder of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and its member organization, and has the rights and obligations arising from membership in the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus.

The trade union solves the following tasks:

  • ensures the protection of the rights of trade union members to work, to acquire a profession and improve their qualifications, and to receive decent wages;
  • represents and protects the rights and interests of trade union members on issues of individual and collective labor and related relations before employers and their associations in government bodies and in courts;
  • improves and develops social partnership, forms and methods of interaction between the trade union and its organizational structures with employers and their associations, and government agencies;
  • promotes health protection activities, the creation of healthy and safe working conditions, and the training of trade union members;
  • organizes and carries out public control over compliance with the terms of the collective agreement, the legislation of the Republic of Belarus (including labor and labor protection), affecting the labor, socio-economic rights and legitimate interests of trade union members;
  • strengthens solidarity and unity of action, mutual assistance between the organizational structures of the trade union and its members;
  • promotes the implementation of health promotion activities, the development of culture, mass physical education and sports, the organization of creativity, leisure and recreation, and the resolution of other social issues of trade union members and their minor children;
  • promotes the further development of the Republic of Belarus as a democratic social state governed by the rule of law;
  • interacts with government agencies and organizations in accordance with legislative acts.

A primary trade union organization exists and operates at the City Clinical Pathology Bureau, a healthcare institution. Employees who have reached the age of 14, expressed a written desire to join, accept the union charter, and pay their union dues on time are eligible to join.
